Group appoints new Board members

Southern Housing Group has appointed Preth Rao, Head of Policy for the Equality and Human Rights Commission, and Lara Oyedele, Chief Executive of Odu-Dua Housing Association, as new Board members.
Ms Rao brings to the Group a wealth of experience governing issues of equality and diversity. In her role with the Equality and Human Rights Commission, Ms Rao leads on policy for local government and community issues. She is also a member of the equality and diversity stakeholder group for the Audit Commission and the Tenant Services Authority. Prior to this, she worked at the Commission for Racial Equality in a role that included lead responsibility for housing.
Ms Oyedele has over 20 years’ housing experience acquired in local authorities, the voluntary sector, consulting, and large housing associations. She has a Masters in Housing from the London School of Economics and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Housing. Lara is currently Chair of BMENational which promotes the work of BME housing associations.
Ms Rao says:
“I am incredibly excited about joining the Board of Southern Housing Group, and will also be serving on the Customer Services Committee where I will gain a closer insight into the everyday experiences of residents. So far I have been very impressed by the range of activities in which the Group is involved, and with the commitment and openness of the staff.”
Ms Oyedele says:
“The opportunity to be involved in a number of exciting projects and the Group’s commitment to the needs of its residents are just two of my reasons for joining the Board of Southern Housing Group. I’m very much looking forward to being part of the Group’s future.”
The new appointees will work alongside long-standing Board representatives including Chairman, Andrew McIntyre, and Chief Executive, Tom Dacey. The Group bids thank you and farewell to Neville Hudson and John Argent, who completed the maximum of nine years’ service as Group Board members.
