Design and quality
We are committed to providing high quality design for the homes and environments we create. Our Design Brief is a guide for all of our designers. The design of our homes must respond to the needs of the wide range of people we house, and contribute to our sustainability activities.
We pay considerable attention to the long term implications of design and specification within our developments. Therefore we like to be involved in the design stage as early as possible.
We have a wealth of experience in selecting, briefing and working with a range of quality architects, both as a lead developer and working in partnership with developers and local authority partners.
Through our successful regeneration projects we work with local residents to create places where they are proud to live. It is our belief that residents and local communities should be central to the design and regeneration of their neighbourhoods. For us, this is an essential part in creating successful developments.
We’re passionate about encouraging good design work. Our annual internal design awards recognise the talented people who are striving to bring good design work to our developments.
Our organisational commitment to design has also been recognised by the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE). In December 2004, they awarded Tom Dacey, Southern Housing Group’s Chief Executive, one of their ‘Festive Five’ awards for outstanding contribution to design.
